"Frank" and Who is Carla Azar?

Have you had the chance to see the very strange yet enjoyable movie "Frank" which made its debut at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival? If you have not, you must put it on "the list." Yes, we all have one and I know you do too. “Frank” is a U.K.-Irish comedy-drama film directed by Lenny Abrahamson and starring Domhnall Gleeson, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Scoot McNairy and Michael Fassbender as the bandleader with the large papier-mâché head. The character Jon, played by Gleeson, believes that the mask wearing Frank is nothing short of a rock music genius and that the world is just waiting to embrace him and his quirky band. Things get a bit dicey when an over-protective Clara, played by Gyllenhaal, starts to resent Jon for the intrusion into their private world.

As you watch the film, you might recognize the drummer, as I did. It is none other than Carla Azar. You may recognize her in this setting as drummer for Jack White's all female touring band "The Peacocks".

I can say that she is a dynamic drummer having seen first hand Jack White’s blistering performance at the 2012 Lollapalooza. But did you also know that she is a member of an outstanding three-piece group Autolux with Eugene Goreshter and Greg Edwards formerly of the band Failure. They have two excellent releases Future Perfect and Transit Transit. Check them out here:
